Something I've come to look forward to during quarantine is the daily car park walk - not only for the obvious reasons of getting fresh air and exercise but also because the car park is situated right across from the runway.
I love watching planes take off. The former travel agent within me gets very excited and my imagination tends to fly away (sorry) with me.
British Airways, Aer Lingus, Thai Airways, Air Iran, Malaysian Airlines. All full of different people going to different places for different reasons. Some happy and exciting reasons, some sad, some work-related - some could even be going to meet new grandchildren for the first time.
For some, this could be the flight that is taking them to their dream holiday. Their first flight ever. The plane that takes them to see family after so waiting for Covid restrictions to be lifted.
It's quite something when you realize just how many hopes and dreams are up in that sky.

The song was released in 2001 and while it didn't reach any of the top charts, it did have some success in contemporary charts. The song is about leaving your troubles behind and just getting away for a bit or even starting over. Maybe something didn't work out the way you thought it would but there is a second chance waiting for you. ("We all make mistakes but it's never too late to start over again"
I couldn't find too many facts about the song, but here are a couple of aero facts I found - both smith and plane :)

- The worlds oldest aeroplane turned 100 in 2019 (KLM)

- Joe Kramer, the drummer for Aerosmith came up with the name. When he was at school, he would write the word "aerosmith" on his books. The name came to him after listening to Hary Nilsson's album Aerial Ballet and the cover art was of a circus performer jumping out of a biplane.

Aerosmith have got it right - I really need to just fly away from here. Interesting facts about the song and the band that I didn’t know. A good choice of music.
